
NPPA Revises Ceiling Prices of Key Medicines, Defers Two Formulations for Further Review
National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced revised ceiling prices for four essential medicines under the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), 2022, while postponing decisions on two other formulations for further analysis.
As per the latest notification dated August 1st, 2025 the price of ipratropium respirator solution (250 mcg/mL), used in nebulizers for respiratory conditions, has been reduced from ₹3.20 to ₹2.96 per mL. The ceiling price for sodium nitroprusside injection (10 mg/mL), used as a vasodilator, has been revised downward from ₹32.71 to ₹28.99 per mL.
The price of povidone iodine ointment (10%), a widely used antiseptic, has been brought down from ₹6.59 to ₹6.26 per gram. Additionally, the NPPA has for the first time set a ceiling price of ₹26.72 per capsule for diltiazem modified release 180 mg, a medication for hypertension and chest pain.
However, pricing decisions for paracetamol injection (150 mg/mL, 5 mL pack) and the DPT vaccine have been deferred.
